  Joint Representation-Need for calibrating export of raw cotton
  The office-bearers and senior members of the following organizations met in Coimbatore on August 21, 2010 to discuss the cotton crisis developing in the country and the measures required to ensure that the situation does not go out of control. 1.   CITI’s participation in 14th Taipei Innovative Textile Applications Show (TITAS Fair) Taiwan - 13th to 15th October 2010 (Wednesday - Friday)
  Confederation of Indian Textile Industry and Taiwan Textile Federation have signed an MOU providing for mutual co-operation between the two organisations including promotion of the events of CITI and TTF in each other's country. CITI participated in the TITAS 2008 and TITAS 2009 shows held in October 2008 and 2009 in Taipei and based on the feed back received from the participants, CITI proposes to participate in TITAS 2010 show and build an India Pavilion in the show. TITAS 2010 is scheduled for 13th –15th October, 2010 at Taipei World Trade Center (TWTC), Exhibition Hall in Taiwan. The show will feature high added-value fibers, yarn, fabrics as well as apparel and accessories. Leaders from world textile-related companies and organisations will meet their local counterparts to explore further business possibilities. For the past several editions, the show has been renowned for featuring functional and fashionable aspects of high added-value yarns and fabrics, mostly from Taiwan and other Asian countries, latest functional and fashionable products and technologies. Textile units from Japan, Mainland China, Thailand, Korea and Indonesia etc. are participating in the fair. Delegation groups from various overseas countries are likely to visit the show. BOOTH CHARGES FOR 2009 CITI has negotiated with TTF and obtained 10 Built up booths in the TITAS Fair 2010 completely free of charge. Interested particpants are requested to send their application forms latest by 30th April 2010 to CITI. Applications for booking and allotment of stall will be considered on First Cum First Served (FCFS) basis. Standard booth includes partitions, carpeting, fascia, spotlights, racks/shelves, cabinet, table, chairs, waste basket and free catalogue entry.

  ITMF Survey on production cost comparison-2010

  Request for release of advertisement in special Issue of Textile Times along with North South Textile Summit
  CITI is adding one more event this year to its increasing activities for promoting the textile and allied business of the country. The first North South Textile Summit (promoting linkages among developed and developing economies) is scheduled to be held on 19th and 20th May 2010 (Wednesday and Thursday ) in Hotel Trident, Mumbai.   Industry takes Cotton Grievances to the Textile Minister
  New Delhi, October 14, 2009 - The industry has requested Textile Minister, Thiru Dayanidhi Maran to intervene in some of the serious issues affecting the entire cotton economy of the country. In a meeting chaired by Textile Minister today, Office-Bearers of Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI), Southern India Mills’ Association (SIMA), Northern Indian Textile Mills Association (NITMA) Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Councils (Texprocil) and other industry representatives pointed out that the export incentive for raw cotton and the procedures adopted for disposal of procured cotton during cotton year 2008-09 played a major role in increasing cotton prices in the domestic market and making Indian cotton available to the competing countries at cheaper prices.

  CITI ELECTS NEW OFFICE-BEARERS
  September 19, 2009, New Delhi – The Committee of the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI) at its meeting held on September 18, 2009 unanimously elected Shri Shishir Jaipuria as Chairman, Shri S.V. Arumugam as Deputy Chairman and Shri Prem Malik as Vice Chairman of CITI for the year 2009-10.

  Foreign Trade Policy Disappoints Textile Industry
  The Foreign Trade Policy for 2009-2014 announced by the Minister for Commerce and Industry on August 27, 2009 is highly disappointing for the textile and clothing industry. In a statement issued here, Shri R. K. Dalmia, Chairman, Confederation of Indian Textile Industry has stated that during the run up to the announcement of the Policy, there have been several statements to the effect that the labour intensive sectors such as textile and clothing will be the focus of the policy.
