| The
South India Textile Research Association
(SITRA) is conducting a survey on quality
of cotton yarn. The survey will cover
medium and fine count yarns of fineness
40s Ne and higher. According to sources
at SITRA, the survey will act as a benchmark
for the Indian textile industry and
will be very helpful for the participating
companies in handling the pressure generated
by the products coming from other countries
to Indian domestic market.
The study will include single yarn
strength, CV % of strength, elongation
at break, CSP, CV% of count, unevenness,
imperfections, hairiness and infrequent
yarn faults. Reports such as mill
level report that will include fibre
test and yarn test results for each
mill, the general report that will
consolidate figures of all the participating
mills and a detailed report of quality
process parameters and raw material
quality will be provided to the participating
mills.
